Gaylord, near Church Gate Train Station (exit from main gate and turn
right towards
Marine Drive, the restaurant was on left side, i.e. South on the map)
was
one such restaurant, where live bands used to play.
The facade of this retaurant was featured in Taxi Driver ( in very
beginning, when
Dev drops off Sheila Ramani and a seth). It was a regular hang-out
of Shankar
and Jaikishan. Probably picturization of two songs of EK PHOOL CHAR
KANTE
(Bombshell Baby and O My Baby Doll) was inspired from the interior
of this
restaurant.

Sudhir
Some of the others
01) The Other Room - Ambassador Hotel
02) Little Hut - Ritz Hotel
03) The Rendezvous - Taj Mahal Hotel
04) Venice - Astoria Hotel (their star attraction used to be a cabaret
artiste named Salome).
05) also restaurants in Hotel President, the Oberoi Sheraton, Hotel
Airlines and probably the Sun-n-Sand at Juhu
Then there were somewhat seedy places like the Blue Nile (New Marine
Lines) and another one near Sassoon Dock, Colaba - I do not recall the
name.
Those were the days.

(bomshell baby of broadway)
