Pakhawaj player Pt Shrikant Mishra is no more

Acclaimed pakhawaj player Pt Shrikant Mishra breathed his last in
Varanasi (where he lived) at 4.30 a.m. today. I believe he belonged to
Kudau Singh Gharana of Pakhawaj playing. His sensible accompaniment
with veterans of Dagar and Darbhanga dhrupad gharanas is particularly
noteworthy. He also accompanied Gundecha brothers among current-day
dhrupadias. Many of brothers' initial audio releases have panditji on
pakhawaj. Those who heard him would doubtless recall his balance of
rhythm and sweetness of tone.
