Also I have some of his vocal recordings, and I could say that he was
a formidable vocalist. I also heard he was exceptionally good at
violin...but never heard any recording. Any opinions and experiences?

Formidable vocalist he was indeed! I have some of his recordings,
vocal, in bad shape! I don't have his violin tracks, though I remember
I have listened to one. I'll try.
