Yeah, but most of the cost is for the hardware that comes with it.
I agree that it's still overpriced. As well, I hear the scratch
functionality is not even close to reality.
There's a pending game that comes with a different controller that
*is* (supposedly), more like the real thing:

That hardware definitely looks superior, but it won't mean shit if the
corresponding software is crap (this Numark controller is NOT
compatible with DJ Hero, by the way).

interesting, yeah, i'd forgotten about the numark thing.

the dj hero reviews i've read (on arstechnica and avclub) were very
positive. and it looks cool as rhythm games go (i'll play guitar
hero/rock band if i'm drinking with friends, but in general, rhythm
games really aren't my thing).

also, i think not being like the real thing should be expected... guitar
hero isn't like really playing guitar.

true, but the basic back and forth mechanism of scratching could've
been retained somehow and made to sound representative of the hand
movement (I haven't actually played, but was told this wasn't the
case).

yeah, good point, i didn't realize there was no platter movement in dj hero.

I'll still give it a try though, I just wish (besides the above) that
you could separate the mashups and use the tracks independently. Like
I might not *always* want Phil Collins in my Tupac and vica-versa.

agreed, definitely

I see your point though, Parappa the Rappa was absoluely nothing like
rapping, but still fun.
