So here's a collection of beats that I find phenomenal. All of them

suck. I'm interested how anyone can think they do. I usually listen
to these at half their speed - so it's weird to post the regular
versions - but I'm listening now and providing a play by play.Swangin

This is a perfect beat. The classic UGK style "tick tick tick"... the
Richard Clayderman piano... the G Funk synth stab. The "Screwed" HOOK
in 1995 (yeah it's such a new trend!) It's a head nodder. Music to
ride to. The middle of the video gives you a taste of how I like to
hear it even - those suspended SCREWED (yes by Mr. Davis hisself) hi
hats. Everything on this fits together so well, how can you hate it.

nice. i like this version a lot more than the one on "ocean of funk",
but that could also be because i heard this version 12 or 13 years ago,
and i only heard the other one a year and a half ago.

i probably like the screwed version more. but both are great.

Theres 2 distinct versions of this right? Theres a 93 and a 95
version IIRC. The version I'm most familiar with is the one thats on
the b8 founders day 1992 (this is the 4th disc of b8's live from the
streets 2), which has (more?) cursing and slightly different verses
and he shouts out a different year at the beginning. Or maybe im
losing my mind.

Elbows Out the Window - Kottonmouth

When I first heard this two or so years ago on the OXYKOTTON mixtape
it blew my mind. NYers don't make music like this anymore --if they
did they'd have a chance. This is old school hip hop. Proof positive
that the South isn't ignorant to the real golden era of NY rap. The
beatbox beat. The rockbox chord progressions. The ultra phased out
cosmic bassline. This is not a perfect beat? Think about this one
hard... if Mos Def rocked over this beat and released it... people
would go nuts. The Soulsquarians would be pronounce the new age of
electro beats. But no, people lets accents and location get in the way
of enjoy excellent music. Sad.

not bad. dope beat. if an MC i really liked was on this and on point,
i'd love this track.

If you smoked week that cost $5000+ a pound you'd love it ;)

Sittin Sideways - Paul Wall

This Carnival Beats right? Let's all not forget what a monster this
beat is. Those squelches in the backround. Again, those UGK ticks.
Bozak will tell you, this sounds nasty coming out of a good sound
system. Crisp drums. A simple loop.

that weird woozy synth line is great, and slowed, it actually kind of
reminds me of this one aphex twin song that came out around the same
time, although i just now realized that.

but "sippin the barre" and the C&S version of "drive slow" are all i
really still listen to on that album. i don't see why "sippin the
barre" didn't make the C&S disc on that.

I dont listen to much paul wall anymore (and usually only chick magnet
or GYMC) but Salih is an animal on beats. If your interested, theres
a C&S sippin the barre on the DJ Ryno Got Drank v. 1 mix thats hosted
by paul wall. CD-r quality is a little sketchy (plays fine but I got
dog*** rips on my itunes), but I can see if I can work something (no
homo)

UGK - One Day

Perfect... but you'll probably like this anyway because they write
articles about Pimp C now. I love the jangly guitar and the hi end
percussion. But I'm a sucker for that hi end.

yes. this song is a fucking classic. the whole first half of this
album is amazing. the whole thing is great, but the first half is perfect.

cosign. Anyone who disses this song doesnt like hiphop. Not liking
this is like hating on shed so many tears or TROY.

Do or Die - Do You

Maybe you're right about Kanye West - he produced the first track!
What happened???? Why does he suck now? Why isn't he making beats
like this anymore? This is like some Teddy Pendagrass *** - and not
a sample in sight.. I'll accept his Grammy solely becuase he produced
Do or Die back in the day. Don't know who did "Do You," but it shows
the consistency of the sound from 96 to 2003. It's a lazier beat -
but all those atmospherics. The hi pitch synth sounds. I've been
seriously into Do or Die lately - the juxtaposition of the rhyming
over a smooth beat alwyas works. There's something so sad and Screw
about this song - I wish he were alive to have heard this beat and
fucked with it.

never listened to much do or die. but i do listen to "playa like me and
you" a lot.

This joint, that joint and paperchase are probably the 3 best chicago
hiphop joints EVER.
