I really don't think I did. I think that's just how people chose to
interpet it.

RMHH seems to be funny like that. They tend to add a ton of extra
meaning to a very simple sentence. "A cruise can be fun." doesn't
mean that I'm saying that's the only way to travel or the best way to
travel or that you can't have fun doing other things. It just means
"a cruise can be fun."

I really don't get why people here think that all the good times that
you would normally have had have to suddenly come to a screeching halt
just because of what you happen to be wearing.

the suits only places i've been to bored me. but this may just be me.
i like a good mix.

What exactly was it, if you don't mind me asking? Sometimes people
will say something like that and then when you talk w/ them further,
it turns out the "boring party" they went to was at a dentist's
convention where they were all dentists or at a bar downtown near Wall
Street that's frequented by Stockbrokers and Investment Bankers. Of
course there wouldn't necessarily be a "mix" at something like that.

That's certainly one type of black tie affair, but that's not the only
type. In this thread, I was really speaking more in general terms.

Although, I will say that if I were invited to something like that, I
certainly wouldn't let a dress code stop me from attending and even if
I do think that it might be boring, I still might attend anyway
depending on who invited me (family member, close friend etc). I
would automatically decline just because I have to dress up or becuase
I have doubts about whether I'll have fun. I also wouldn't go into
the situation w/ the predisposition that it's going to be a boring
night, that I won't have anything in common w/ anyone or that I won't
have a good time.

that's it. and to me behaviour is more important than look.

.....This goes back to what I said very early in this thread, I'm
inclined to agree.....but the world just doesn't always work that way.

But to answer the question, I like cruises and resorts because of the
service. I also like the all-inclusiveness. ("all-inclusive" =
vacation term...please google if your not sure rather than assume and
be overly semantic and wrong) I like being able to just kick back and
relax because everything is taken care of for you.

to each his own. this doesn't appeal to me at all.

I'm not quite sure why someone would disapprove of convenience while
they're on vacation....but like you said, to each his own.

i'm glad that you had a good time. maybe i would, too. but i doubt it.
there are many things i'd rather do first.

I'm not sure I understand this statement either. I'd rather go on
Safari in Africa before a cruise....but the cruise was more attainable
at the particular time.

this is great and, again, i'm happy for you. but that's you. my idea
of a perfect week with nothing to do is different. i'm flying to
london tomorrow. hopefully, i'll be able to get a copy of t. tauri's
new record + i want to see some vintage couture at victoria & albert,
some fashion photography exhibition, shepard fairey's exhibition and
some other things. i'll try to meet a few people + just see where
that's gonna take me. and, believe me, i'm looking forward to it
although nobody is taking care of anything for me.

Sounds fine. I do things like that too. I just don't do things the
same way every single time I go on vacation. I like a mix. :p)

I also have a question about your ending "nobody is taking care of
anything for me". It sounds like you have issue w/ that or perhaps
you don't really understand what I mean by it? All-inclusive resorts
are more expensive than staying in a regular hotel.....but I like the
service and the convenience of the fact that I can do any activity I
want, whenever I want, as much as I want and it's already paid for.
No making phone calls, scheduling things and booking things. I just
go and do it whenever I want. Same w/ food. If spend all day and
evening in town and want something to eat at 3am in the morning....I
don't have to run around making calls to find a place that's open.
The resort has food available to it's customers 24hrs a day....and
it's already paid for. Of course, I'm free eat at the local
restaurants and do so....but it's also nice to have more options.
Same with drinks. If I just want to lounge and sip daquiris on the
beach, a waiter comes and keeps bringing me as many as I want....and
it's already paid for. That's what I really mean by everyting is
taken care of. I don't mean that someone is scheduling my day for me
or telling me what to do. Plus, since everything is included in the
price, i don't have as many any extra expenses. I pretty much know
exactly what the vacation is going to cost before I go.

I've never actually heard someone say that they don't like all-
inclusive resorts because they don't like the service or convenience.
It's usually because of the price.

btw, aren't there any clothes you feel uncomfortable in?

My "emotional" discomfort is usually tied to not being dressed right
for an occasion, whether that be overdressed or underdressed. I also
feel uncomfortable wearing clothes that I don't think are flattering
on me. I feel uncomfortable when I "look like a bum". (wearing
something that's very wrinkled, doesn't fit right or has some other
defect....missing button, stain, rip, tear etc.)

I prefer not to wear heels over 4 inches tall....mainly because after
a while they hurt my feet, but also because any taller than that, I
get nervous about falling and I think that subconsciously makes me
walk funny in them.
