or Things that couldn't make my quick Top 10 in Xenos' post:
Nice and Smooth - I'd have to compile a mix. Mostly the first LP with
some "Ain't a Damn Thing Changed" add "Hip Hop Freaks" and that
Everlast track from the 3rd and of course include "No Bones in Ice
Cream"
Gang Starr - I'd have to compile a greatest Works of Mart CD - mostly
Gang Starr with "Supa Star" "Crush" that Paula Perry track and a few
others
Lord Finesse/Big L - A few mentioned the first Big L. Again, I'd have
to compile a DITC mix... early Finesse and Smooth, some Big L, a bit of
the 2nd Show and AG, one or two of the Diamond D tracks. None of the
DITC records hits me hard through and through all the time.
Heiro - Yes, '93 Til Infinity' is the most classic, but I'd swap some
tracks for the good tracks on "No Need For Alarm" "Fear Itself" and
"Like It Should Be" and probably add "Get the Money, the Gun and the
Girl" off the "Low Down Dirty Shame" s/t and make a BEST OF JIVE HEIRO
mix.
Geto Boys - again, a decent compilation, good greatest hits mix. "Mind
of a Lunatic" "Mind Playing Tricks" "Straight Gangsterism" "First Light
of Day" "Yes Yes Y'All" all come to mind. I might even sneak in
"Little Big Man".
Tribe Called Quest - I have to be in the mood.
J-Live - I'd merge the first 2 lps into one somehow
Binary Star/Subterraneous - maybe WATERWORLD qualifies... but I'd
probably *** around and delete some, add some One Be Low stuff.
RBL Posse/Totally Insane - I'd somehow merge LESSON TO BE LEARNED with
GOIN INSANE and throw in the best 2 cuts from Dre Dog's NEW JIM JONES.
Do this right and it may be on the tp of my list.
I'd probably pick MOBB DEEP - Infamous as a 12th record though.
ATHLETIC MIC LEAGUE's SWEATS AND KICKS gets honorable mention too.
