Lentils are almost universally considereed among the most healthy and
nutritious foods on the planet. Can you say the same for ham?
You could survive a lifetime on a diet of ham. You couldn't do so
with lentils, they are not a complete protein. It has continually
surprised me that Adkins-style high prtoein, high fat diets have not
been found to be extremely unhealthy. But they are better for you
than a carbohydrate rich diet, irrespective of the complexity of the
carbohydrates in question. Ham doesn't have the high fat content of
most other meats, so the fat issue is pretty much a non sequitur
here. Folks are stuck in old thinking here. That's not shock, it is
indeed surprising.
