Yes.
I feel he seems like the best canditate.
But is it a wasted vote?
Always.
I don't want the same governor but the one new one is no better.
The independent seems like the best choice.
But it does not look like he is going to win.
Our political system has evolved into a two-party system.
Your vote is either for/against or wasted.
Or against a 2-party system... The only way to waste your vote is to
not use it.
A vote against the two-party system is by definition a wasted vote
because the two-party system is never on the ballot.
And voting for candidates on the ballot, regardless of their party, is
by definition not a wasted vote. You don't get extra points for voting
for the winner.

I registered and voted GREEN so that thet could get enough votes for
matching Federal funds, which they did. Was that a wasted vote? Your
vote for President is not only not counted, but turned into a vote for
the winner you voted against, thanks to the Electoral College. I think
only tow states have a law that the electorate MUST vote the way they
were instructed, and none have proportional electoral votes.

Yeah, I voted Green once myself in a presidential election so
that the Greens could garner 5% of the vote. In Illinois any
party that gets %5 of the vote is placed on the next ballot
automatically, that is without having to gather signatures on
a petition. The Greens got less than 3%.

Maine and Nebraska split their electoral votes, in theory.
They each give two electoral votes to the overall winner and
then one electoral vote to the winner of each congressional
district. Not exactly proportional, but not winner take all
either. In theory. In practice Maine's 4 electoral votes are
solid Democrat and Nebraska's 5 are solid Republican.
