My son bought The Maschine by Native Instruments and of course it does
not work with the shitty soundcard in his laptop. Does anyone know
whether the Creative E-MU 0202 audio interface would do the trick? Is
there another soundcard solution that is preferable and/or less
expensive that would allow The Maschine to run on a laptop?
The Maschine uses a USB 2.0 interface, it doesn't plug into a sound
card (from a quick read of the web site). How old is your son's
laptop, is it possible he only has USB 1.1 ports?
Or is the problem output? This chart might help:
http://www.tweakheadz.com/audio_interface_usb2_comparison_chart.htm
Brand new Gateway with 4g RAM, 500g hard drive, numerous usb 2.0
inputs, all the bells and whistles. Maschine won't work without a USB
sound card upgrade.
Well, check out the link I provided and see what looks like it will
work. I've never used a USB sound card for output so I can't
personally recommend any particular device. I'd recommend running the
choice by the Native Instruments people before you buy anything since
their web site doesn't list any specific requirements for sound cards
(only some vague blurb about "allowing people to choose from the wide
range of sound cards out there" with no mention of minimum
requirements).
