Let's see: a 2 minutes and 30 second encore with no solo spot that
gets played every third night and reminds you as you're about to head
out to the real world hopped up on several different illegal
substances that the cops are about to be a substantial obstacle...

Nope. I just thought of it as a fun little tune.
Maybe so, but I'd guess that the large majority of Dead fans didn't go
to shows to hear fun little tunes. I'm not saying that catching one or
two would ruin the show, but such songs usually had very little
redeeming social value. As alway, mmv.
I went to Dead shows to hear a wide variety of tunes. I very much
enjoyed the fun little ditties.
