New topic. I pretty much stopped buying new cds around the turn of the
century (I can't believe we're already almost 10 years into it). But
occasionally I'll check out some 'newer' music and really like some of
it. The last 'new' bands I really got into were Flaming Lips and Eels,
but let's face it, that was a decade ago.
So I ask, what cd(s) released since the year 2000 would you highly
recommend to fellow RMGDers? And I'm not talking about a *** Picks or
rerelease of older music (which I do buy to replace albums that I
had), but freshly made music since 2000.
For me, I recommend Modest Mouse - Good News for People Who Like Bad
News (2004).
I've been listening to it a ton on my iPod. Great album with a huge
variety of sound. They remind me of a modern day, fresh, Pixies.
Secondly, Lucinda Williams - Live at the Fillmore (2005).
Great songs and Doug Pettibone's guitar playing is excellent. Although
it is a live cd, so that might violate my request for 'new' music.

Check out Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers by the Bassinets. Man, they rock
AND roll.
