What tagging software are you going to use?

Haven't decided, probably play with a couple of different tools. There
are some Linux tagging utilities that are supposed to be able to read
text files and automatically update tags, I'm okay with going that
route.

So leaving the file names alone and just updating the tag info? I
think that's right.

I just looking through on my iPod at a collection of GD only
downloads. Those text files are the wild west.

I didn't know there were utilities that could extract text file info.
I did a quick Google search and found: flactagger

http://flactagger.berlios.de/

flactagger is a Ruby script for tagging FLAC files. It can extract
information from file names if they're named according etree.org's
naming standards. It can also extract information from info files like
song titles, location and date. Tags can also be editied in an editor.

I'm trying out the etree-scripts from Sourceforge, it can be run under
Cygwin on Windows machines and will add tags to FLAC files. I may
have to do some editing of text files but that's generally easier than
manually tagging an entire show. Plus it will automatically convert
SHN to FLAC files. I've tried the flacify function on my Linux box
and it works well for at least some text files, I'm going to set it up
on my HTPC later today.
