The "bull*** statistics" from the "right wingnut" extremist group are from
the actual Social Security Trustee's 2004 report (sometimes in pays to look
at sources before you blindly attack the messenger), including the infinite
horizon projections he so derided-not the whackos Ray would have you
mistakenly believe. I don't know if he just missed it or was deliberately
misleading but I suppose its par for the course. The Trustee's found that
infinite horizon model was useful to give policymakers a general view into
the future beyond the lifespan or 75 year model to sustain the program. The
AAA that Ray quoted doesn't dispute the estimates, their complaint is that
its hard to get a perfect guess in a world that could have drastic economic
changes that could skew the numbers in one way or another and that people
might be too dumb to realize its an estimate and not a solid number-its not
an exact science. I could see how it could be wrongly interpreted but it
isn't rocket science either (hence my own wide general estimate-I don't have
a link for my own opinion-sorry Ray-you should try having an original uncut
and pasted thought sometime).

You can quibble all you want on small details but it doesn't change the fact
that there are big long term costs lingering out there that need to be dealt
with before they swamp us. The point that I am trying to make is, if we
don't deal with these issues or make them worse, our currency could be
futher devalued and we could risk default (China is already announced they
will diversify their savings). I'm not really sure what Ray hoped to
accomplish with this little dust up, but I hope you look at this situation
with an open mind and research it for yourself.
