Why should
Americans pay for this in blood and money?
When you park your car and live a petroleum free life style!
Gotta love misleading false dichotomy rhetoric. Or not.
Lead by example if you believe what you say.
"Living a petroleum free life style" - especially in our
"conservation is no energy policy" (says Cheney) BushCo-lead society -
is impossible,
But you knew that... right?
Does that mean you're ready to build some nuclear power plants? Or, do
you
prefer the moving back into caves option?
Nuclear power won't happen here for decades. When our gov makes us a
huge target for "the terrorists" think that the people will approve a
giant bomb in their backyard? Wind is viable today and it's quick to
implement for electricity.
The Kennedy's don't want wind in their backyards either but I'm for it.
No. The people of Massachusetts don't want it. Putting it out there
is a stupid idea to begin with. Putting wind in Wyoming is a good
idea. Putting wind in the Dakotas is a good idea.
Nice obfuscation into electricity when we should be talking about
FUEL.
Watch how quickly we can shift to a higher blend of ethanol. The
country will produce 7 billion gallons this year. Jan 1, 2008 the
Mexican sugar can be imported without taxes. That means that even
more ethanol can be made at an even cheaper price. World price for
sugar is under $0.10 per pound and it takes 14 pounds of sugar for one
gallon of ethanol. High times indeed...
Ethanol is a give away to farmers and there is no way enough land is
available (maybe some massive clear cutting) to replace petroleum.
Please... Ethanol is here to stay. With the new energy tech coming
online, we will be able to move away from petroleum.
Also, if
you tie food and fuel together then the rise of one will cause the other
to
rise.
LOL... So the food in the USA is not tied to fuel? Think those
combines run on solar?
Fuel prices don't affect farm prices that much.
If the supply of corn is reduced for fuel, how do you replace the demand for
food and feed without the price increasing? Same thing for sugar. How many
cans of Mt Dew will Pepsi sell for $5 a can?
Ethanol isn't going to solve all of our fuel issues. It can be part of
reducing demand. We need more hybrids, more plug in electric cars (and more
carbon friendly nuclear power plants to recharge them) and the biggest thing
will be more efficient deisel engines for heavy trucks.
Then, you get a lot of people south of the border that can't afford a
tortilla.
The price of corn went up because the price of fuel went up. This
effects the planting/harvest and makes ethanol a viable alternative.
Blaming the price of corn on ethanol is like blaming the price of oil
on the sun.
Yes, the laws of supply and demand are a myth.
