McAfee Site Advisor has a free plug-in for FireFox that tells you, in a
really simple way, which websites from Google and YaHoo! Search results
are
"safe" sites (Free of Spyware, Adware, malicious software, etc.)
Check it out at the link below.

McAfee is notoriously unreliable software, they even borked our main
system login (we had to create another admin account). Use with
caution !
which is more of an issue if you used McAfee for its main commercial
software apps like antivirus, etc. this is a free Firefox plug-in that
Kathy's talking about; there are many makers -- many of them no-name
companies or merely individuals -- of decent Firefox plug-ins, as there
are for apps like Mac widgets. I don't always use Firefox, but loaded
this app in and think it's OK for its intended purpose.

Me, too! I didn't like McAgee for virus protection, but this little thing
is pretty cool. I LIKE being able to know what kind of adware of viruses
might be lurking BEFORE I click on a link in a search instead of having to
try to remove them after if I, or my kid, opens the wrong thing. Lyrics
sites, screensavers, ringtones, all that kind of crap kids like to download
is almost always on those dangerous sites. Now my kid can see a red circle,
which means Mom will kill me if I infect her computer again, so I better not
open that link. I like it!!
