The man was not there speaking as a private citizen, those guys are public
employees and they work for me. I don't think they SHOULD have the right
to keep people (the people who employ them) who have not done anything
wrong from listening to a speech. It's just wrong. They should have to
answer questions from the public. That they can hide and choose who gets
in and who doesn't is not right.

But it's a privately organized event, your status as a taxpayer doesn't mean
the Chicago Council on Foreign Affairs has to admit you to one of their
functions just because someone who works for the govt. is speaking any more
than I could expect admittance to the Republican National Convention on the
grounds that the President is giving a speech there. However it is striking
that they said your name was on a list provided by the speaker, I bet he
didn't come up with that list on his own time, that sounds like our tax
dollars at work.

Oh, believe me, I wanna know and I am trying every way I know how,
including asking the people who are supposed to be in Washington
representing us, know and asking them to help.

I for one would appreciate hearing if you learn anything, this sort of
inexplicable no-fly list is troubling, you never know when it's going to
result in more than just an annoyance.
