Very worthwhile article and of course right on, IMO.
I just saw one of his travel shows where he discussed the "coffee shops" in
Amsterdam, where in fact the cops have recently been cracking down because
it ain't quite the trouble-free scene he paints in this article. Which is
not to say that spending billions to lock up people for smoking weed makes
sense of course, if beer is legal then weed should be too IMO.
Well the only problem with the California Medical Marijuana model is
that the state does not get taxes out of the deal. $1 per gram would
load the coffers of the state.
A tax on medicinal mj? Truly a heartless idea. Instead, why not
legalize and tax it's recreational sale, as is done with booze?

Think of what it would do for our national budget if we legalized weed
(thus saving huge amounts of money on law enforcement around pot and
jail cells) and taxed it (bringing in huge amounts of money). I'd
love to see a candidate offer this as a solution to balancing the
budget.
