I think so. ymmv

The business model for developing and selling ethanol in the US is one big
scam to divert tax money into companies like ADM.

I'd be for short term 6 dollar gasoline to help jump start real oil
conservation and to help make wasteful vehicles like Hummers a thing of the
past. Yes I know this would cause terrible hardships for many people but it
would shake things up quickly and we really need to shake things up in this
country. Before this price increase takes place we'd need to wait until the
Bush/Cheney cabal is out of power or the US would be invading Nigeria,
Venzuela and terrorist Canada within weeks. AW

This last July was my first experience with Ethanol. (It's not
available on the East Coast where I live, and I also drive a diesel
vehicle; so it's really a moot point for my VW). When driving through
the west, with my dad, we had to gas up. Ethanol labelled fuel was
about 4 cents per gallon cheaper than "normal, US conditioned
fuel" (for lack of a better term). Comparing our Ethanol mileage
versus regular full petroleum fuel mileage, the Ethanol mileage really
sucked. So, we saved four cents per gallon, but we also lost almost
4.5 mile per gallon. Where's the saving? There was none. We might have
saved on "gas", but the cost of the corn, and corn's byproducts, will
increase because of corn's expanded use. It will cost us so much more
in the long run.

I've been hearing about a fuel additive to increase fuel efficiency,
called CA-40 (http://www.ca40g.com/home.php). It's gallon cost is $100
(one gallon of CA-40 treats between 1920-2450 gallons of gas).
Guaranteed to increase your mileage, per tank, by a minimum of 10%.
The mix ratio of CA-40 to a full tank of gas seems pretty small (one
ounce of CA-40 to 15-20 gallons of gas). CA-40 does something to the
way calcium bonds to hydrocarbons in the fuel, keeping it in
suspension, resulting in a more efficient "burn"... Not a rocket
scientist here, but it sounds good. Also, manufacturers warranties
aren't affected by using this additive. I just haven't been convinced
yet.

Comments on CA040 out there? Anyone? Bueller?
