Uh, Jim, I've been talking trash to Don and Seth for so long in this
thread that most of Don's earlier posts have already been deleted from
Google. When I tell people that they are "delusional", "willfully
blind," "reality-challenged," and "clueless about baseball," I'm not
trying to convince with cold logic, I'm talking trash.....which, of
course, isn't to say that they haven't actually been delusional,
willfully blind, reality challenged and clueless, it's quite clear
that they have.

Peace,
Neil X.

Prior to today, here are respective ERAs:

Pettitte: 2.93
Beckett: 3.14
Wang: 3.33
Dice-K: 4.18
Schilling: 4.20

Clemens: 3.65 in 2 starts.

Considering that Wang has been getting stronger after a bad start,
while Schilling has been fading after a good start, are the Sox top 3
starters really a lot better than the Yankees'?

I'm sorry, you just can't wish away the fact that the Sox top 3 are a
combined 23-11, whereas the Yankees starters are 12-9. ERA tells some
of the story, but not all of it. Places like Colorado and Fenway,
ERAs are higher because of the field half of the games are played.
Dice-K hasn't even zered in yet, he's just going to get better and
better. Beckett has already had a stint on the DL and still is the
premier pitcher on either squad. You can't write Schilling off, his
MRI was negative, after he rests 15 days on the DL, I suspect he'll be
fine for the stretch run.

Peace,
Neil X.

Oh, Lord, please don't tell me you're one of those people who evaluate
pitchers based on W-L record. As I tried to explain earlier, Wins
and Losses are team statistics. They're next to useless as measures
of individual pitchers' performances.
