He was addressing her by her first name, so I assumed she was either a
much older sister or his social worker bringing him out for a day of fun
and merriment.
I'm guessing it was his sister too
The oldest/youngest sibling dynamic was the reason my sister refused to go
on rides with me when we were younger -- and with good reason. She knew
I'd do anything I could to make the ride more terrifying.
As the oldest child I did my best to torment my sisters and brother as much
as I could.
She finally caved and went on one of the suspended coasters with me at
Busch Gardens when she was living in VA Beach. I kept reaching over and
threatening to unhook the safety harness (which anyone with an iota of
sense knows is impossible) but, I suppose when it's your older brother who
appears to be trying it, anything's possible and common sense goes out the
window.
My brother is five years younger. I good naturedly beat the snot out of him
on a regular basis He and I got along fine, but it was just "the thing to
do" Anyhow, my brother looked at me one day and said that someday he was
going to beat me up. (I was about 16 and he was 11) I fell over laughing my
ass off. As time went by I completely forgot about it, and so did he (or so
I thought)
My brother discovered wrestling in High School and worked diligently,
lifting weights, running, cutting weight for meets and ended up being State
Champ in the 108 weight class his Senior year in High School
One day Steve looked at me and said "Remember when I told you that someday I
was going to beat you up?"
"Um.....Yeah, vaguely" (a total lie, I vividly remembered, because I laughed
about it for a week at least)
"Well today's the day"
Two seconds later I was lying flat on my back, crying "uncle". And at the
time I had at least 35lbs on him. He took me down like it was nothing
Payback is indeed a bitch.
She hasn't gone on a ride with me since and has warned my neices to avoid
going on carnival rides with me as well. I guess she can't grasp the
concept that I'd never do something like that to them, not only
because...well...I just wouldn't, but because they're not my kid sisters.
I've never pissed off my brother since that day : )
