Union Pacific replaced that recent burned-down rail trestle so fast it was
unbelievable, and now Cal Trans is predicting weeks or maybe months to fix
this, maybe they should turn over the job to UP.
The railroads make immense repairs *fast* because their economic
survival depends on it. Public road repairs move at a snail's pace.
Why is that? Do politics & contracts have an impact? It could make for
an interesting discussion.
