I don't know how old you are, but I was 20 in 1967, and aside from the
draft and Vietnam, it was the greatest time in history to be young. There
was free love, LSD, free music in the park, cheap rents. And, did I
mention free love?
What more could you want?
In any case, I didn't have to deal with the draft until 1969, so (in the
words of Kurt Vonnegut), "Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt" in
1967.

I became 16 in 1967 ... and found out that the majority of adults were mean
spirited and not to be trusted ... that my country was killing my friends,
and biding its time to try to kill me ... and that the price of dissent was
alienation.
Thank god I had parents who were loving, communicative and understanding as
best they could be.
Do you remember the hate stares that we used to get, just for having long
hair? The draconian penalties for pot?
It was indeed the best of times and the worst of times.
