As a side note, some people have expressed the concern that they seem
to
be held to a different standard of conduct than other people on the
group.
Some folks, for example, have complained that they have gotten dinged
for
doing what they consider are the same things that Joe has done, and
they
consider it manifestly unfair.

I would like to be the first person to step forward and say, yes, some
people have been treated differently. But the reason for it is quite
simple. There are some people who post here that I simply can't stand.
So, if you feel that I have treated you poorly, it is probably because
I
don't like you.

HTH,

I hope it helps you be a tad more tolerant of those who don't meet your
lofty expectations.

No ... the reality is that there are some people here on this newsgroup who
are not very likeable.

They are phoney, disingenuous, obnoxious, attention-seeking, immature
individuals. I don't have to like that behavior, and I don't have to like
people who engage in it. Nothing requires me to be tolerant of arrogance,
stupidity, phoniness, incivility and so forth. I will go a step further and
note that some people here evidence symptoms of psychological disorder ...
and some have gone so far as to cause harm to other people in real life.

To a certain extent, I believe in the idea of condemning the behavior but
not the individual. However, when certain people continue to engage in
contemptible behavior despite the efforts of people here to get them to take
notice and stop ... then I have no problem writing them off with respect to
this newsgroup.
