Plug/Grovel/Spam: Sheila Hanson for Judge in OC

Dear rmgd,

I've been mostly absent from these parts for the past three or four
months while I've been helping my wife, Sheila Hanson, run for judge
here in Orange County, CA. It's been an education and a half. The
primary election is next Tuesday, June 6 and, in order to avoid a
run-off in November, Sheila needs to get a simple majority - 50% of the
votes plus one vote. Otherwise the top two vote getters will go to the
general election in November.

It's probably a foregone conclusion that Sheila will get the most votes
- she's the most qualified, and is a Deputy D.A. - a ballot designation
that is *very* strong here. O.C. loves its prosecutors. However,
since it's a three person race, we don't know where we stand relative
to winning outright on Tuesday. We'd very much like to have this won on
June 6, since the race has been wicked expensive and the cost will at
least double if we have to go to a general election.

I haven't mentioned my wife's job here in the past, since there may be
some of us who might get a bit freaked by an rmgdr's proximity to a
D.A. However, at this point in the process, we're looking for as many
votes as possible. Word of mouth is highly effective, so I'm here with
a grovel. If any of you are O.C. voters, or know O.C. voters, please
consider voting for her or recommending her. Be assured she's one of
the good guys. You can check out her credentials at
www.sheilahansonforjudge.com. This is a non-partisan race, so everyone
in the county is eligible to vote.

She's endorsed by almost 40 judges, the District Attorney, the
Democratic Party of Orange County, many top Republicans, police, and
community leaders (in a judicial race reputation generally counts more
than party affiliation). She earned her reputation by spending 17
years in the D.A.'s office prosecuting sexual assault cases, child
molesters, gang members, and elder abuse cases. She's pretty amazing.

The Orange County Bar Association has given her their highest rating of
"highly qualified." This means, among other things, that even her
opponents in court have nothing but good things to say about her, and
for a lawyer that's saying something. I don't have a whole lot to say
about her opponents, but I will note they chose not to participate in
the Bar Association's review process. The Bar's press release is here:

Apologies in advance to anyone offended by the spam/grovel and no, I
won't tell you what she's wearing right about now.

Thanks very much,
John H.
