GENO'S SAYS: SPEAK ENGLISH

So I guess they won't be serving non-English speaking tourists. Nice
way to show good ol' American hospitality.
Gotta say, I think the "When in Rome ..." principle applies here. If
I'm in France, and the waiter doesn't speak English, then I at least
attempt to say the dish in his language and hope he takes mercy on bad
French. Making the effort counts (and might also mean he doesn't sneeze
on my fish).
If people are at least attempting to sound out "cheesesteak" then I
expect everything will be fine. If people are just coming in and just
ordering in their own language, then how many languages is Geno
supposed to learn? (Sure, it might make better business sense for
Geno's staff to know some Spanish or whatever, but that's his
decision.)
Just another example of why it's stupid to require English-speaking for
citizenship, but why people here *should* learn English. Speak whatever
you want, but life in America often happens in English, and if you want
to get along -- or get lunch -- effectively in those environments, then
that's part of the deal.
I would also point out that if you're going to have even a limited
English vocabulary, then "cheesesteak" is an excellent word to include
and worth the effort.
