What are the good bit torrent sites? I've seen a couple but haven't
really used it to pick up many shows yet.

I rely on:

http://bt.etree.org

also:

http://www.shnflac.net/
www.thetradersden.org
www.bootcity.org
www.u2torrents.com (for U2 of course, audio and video)
www.yeeshkul.com (awesome site with a Pink Floyd focus, audio and
video)

and don't forget www.dimeadozen.org

oh, of course. but if you're not already registered there, I hear it's
difficult to get in because membership is capped at a certain number,
which is why I didn't mention it...I don't know the logistics of it
though: for someone not yet registered who wants to register, IIRC and I
could be wrong, but it might be possible somehow, either via attrition
(the dropping of older, inactive accounts) or some other means?

They drop inactive accounts, I think. When I registered there, my first
response was they were at maximum # of users, but try later, as spaces
open as accounts are dropped. It took about 15 minutes. That was before
the recent problems they had (forget what they were, but they were posted
here). I just looked there, and they've a 186 new users in the last 24
hours, so I guess keep trying, it's worth it once you're there. With
93,000 users, I'm sure someone with a little patience can get in sorta
quick.

Yes, that's what they say - that they delete inactive accounts. I think it
took me a couple of tries before I could register there. It is well worth
the trouble to keep trying if you don't get in right away, though.
