Actually, the news that I saw this morning is that the Bush administration
is considering pre-emptive strikes using *conventional weapons* against the
facilities and industry in Iran that is devoted to *nuclear capability*.
While I suppose that Bush et al could simply be engaged in a bit of saber
rattling, preemptive strikes against Iran seem to me to be perfectly
consistent with Bush administration policy so far. Wish I had your
confidence that it ain't gonna happen, JC.
There are a couple of questions that come immediately to mind:
How are preemptive military strikes against Iran materialy different from
flying airliners into the World Trade Center?
Why do we press the issue with Iran in the Middle East, yet sit on our hands
with respect to North Korea?
What will other Middle Eastern countries do if we strike Iran?
What is the role of the United Nations with respect to nuclear
proliferation?
How do we stop this madness prior to 2008? (note: a Republican minority in
Congress in 2006 would be helpful, provided that we elect some folks with
balls and ovaries.)
