invited to first, and see where things go from
there.

Exactly ... my suggestion would be to take the slot, honor the commitment
to
not stir ***, but go to the meeting to speak on behalf of others who
might
have been shut out by a non-random process.

She might suggest that they institute a truly random process by accepting
applications for a period of time, and then selecting children by lottery
if
the number of applicants exceed the number of openings.

That is the fairest way.
