But that's the whole problem - that lunatic took it beyond usenet and
into real life. It still freaks me out that someone who was a part of
this group could be that sick and vicious.

Did you ever get to the bottom of the Mark Williams info postings? Any
idea who posted that info?


I have no idea, nor do I care. As I've said numerous times now, posting
something here is not the same as calling someone's employer and causing
problems for someone in their real life. What happens on RMGD stays on
RMGD. That is my only issue in all of this. Who said what to whom here
doesn't matter in the least. That is not the issue. The issue is that
that woman caused real life problems for somebody because of words that
she read on her computer screen.

Maybe you missed this part of the old post about Mark:

"And last but not least this message was e-mailed to every address
listed above.

Have a nice day Mark Williams."

This was preceeded by a list of 50 e-mail addresses (presumably coworkers)
btw.

If the person who posted that message is the same person who got caught up
in this mess then I can't feel bad for him.

I didn't miss it this time or when it was posted originally. Nobody here
thought that it should have been done, including me.

But I still don't understand how someone posting that a year or two ago
justifies calling somebody's employer now. Especially when it was done by
someone who had nothing whatsoever to do with that discussion back then. If
Mr. Williams had done something about it then, I would not have said that he
was wrong. Someone crossed a line posting that stuff about him and if they
sent emails to fifty people, they were even more wrong.

What was written here to or about her was not harrassment no matter how much
it hurt her feelings. It wasn't harrassment, it was words on a computer
screen. It wasn't her real life info, it wasn't a threat, it didn't do any
physical harm and didn't have to potential to do so. What she did could
easily cause harm to a man and his family. It was an inappropriate response
to what transpired here. It was vicious and unnecessary and had nothing at
all to do with what was said about Mark Williams.

If Sean posted that stuff about Mark, then he was wrong to do so. That
still doesn't make what Carrie did right.
