Yeah, good points. I think there's a setting you can change so that
the torrent begins as soon as you open it on the site that shows you
the file. I forget where it is . . . And even so, I get some
nonsensical error message each time I start a torrent, I just ignore
it. It all works.

I used to like Bit Comet because it was real easy to select files to
*not* download - but then Bit Comet starting not working well for me.
I went back to Azureus and found that you can right click on the files
and tell them not to download.
