Re: what should the United States do with combatants who don't belong to regular armies?

Josh--some day I will get the hang of quotes--I was talking about
Security Council Resolutions: that the General Assembly might vote on a
resolution is not any indication that the resolution would ever make it
to the Security Council, (with powers of enforcement)---but, yeah, if
your suggestion had been for the United States to go with the majority
in the GENERAL ASSEMBLY I might question the reasoning behind your
suggestion and not like you and fight the suggestion, but from your pov
this would be an interesting tactic--may even have been used before.
Within this procedural frame: I'm talking about how you prepare the
context for diplomatic suggestion/threat/coercion and avoid
crystallizing unanticipated opposition in what you consider to be an
easy flight/fight, surrender/resist box you've created for your
opponent.
Security Council Resolutions: do this or else--won't necessarily have
an easy end game. Depending upon the resolution you could get "else".
Ray I note your remarks. To some degree crossing posts cause bad
feelings--the posts were not in sync. The post you quote from, the
specific post came in response to the post that had just reached my
newsreader that ended with "stick a fork in it." Still, we will not,
with the best of motives, agree on some basic things. And to some
degree issues of style, personality, subjective interpretation, and the
temptation to use "colorful language" make conflict-resolution
difficult here as elsewhere. I think you've gone well beyond the call
of duty in articulating your perceptions. Well beyond. But the only
apology I can offer is the politician's conditional: I have carefully
considered your words and if I truly misunderstood your motives I
apologize for any unintended injury. If this is unacceptable--so be it.
Guys, I'm gone from this thread.
btw, the 3D version of the Rhino Fillmore West 1969 compiliation is
available for sale. Not only at GDStore, but, at least here in the DC
region--in retail stores. Convenient way to add to Bear's 2-tracks.
bye
