GWB = Clinton
Obviously they are two different people, but I find their detractors very similar in fervor to the point of blindness. Their supporters are similar as well, apologists who see ends somewhat justify the means.
Think about it.
Everything is always <GWB/BC>'s fault!
Remember that the impeachment crowd looked foolish when they clamored for a rope. I see it again today.
It's a weird culture to me that targets the majority of their political arguments toward defending the executive branch of the federal government, no matter the mistakes made, no matter the lies told. It's truly bizarre. I don't really see the value in apologizing for Bush or Clinton. I think Bush is a worse president than Clinton however, but politics don't guide that viewpoint. After all, I can't stand Al Gore (as a leader, not a person) and don't care much for Howard Dean either.
Ah, but I was trying to emphasize both sides of the coin. There are those who will criticize those in power no matter the achievements. Everything is viewed as a debacle. Everything is a criticism of the executive branch. The same "strategy" that prevernts acknowledging something right is the same "strategy" that denies anything is wrong.
So why focus on those people? The only usage I've seen for making this a focal point of any political debate is for partisan reasons. It's a no brainer. Of course each party has its die-hards who only see good in their own party's rhetoric or actions. I already pointed out the ultra-partisan Bill as one those, and the only reason I did that was because it's offensive to hear some twit say that by not voting for Gore, one is responsible for Dubya's actions. That aside, it seems to me you're pointing out the obvious, and I'm not really sure the reason. I mean, you're entitled to say it but I would much rather hear your views on which branch of government is mainly responsible for this mess. It's my contention that the way the federal government responded to this disaster emboldens terrorists around the world and therefore the focus should be there. The people of Louisiana can vote out their local leaders if they see fit.
Peas, JC .
