Maybe they could stick Pat Roberson and his big mouth in there?

On a serious note, this is a huge disaster and I read this morning that
the entire New Orleans water system could be ruined if the water rises a
few more feet. Where are the expressions of sympathy from world leaders
and pledges of humanitarian aid that poured out after the Tsunami?

Why would/should the most economically powerful nation on earth need
aid? Seriously, properly organized, the US has more than enough
resources to alleiviate the disaster. More than enough so that when the
next disaster occurs in some impovrished part of the world, the US can
step up again. It's one of the best things this country does.
And don't forget, this terrible disaster doesn't begin to compare to
the devastation of last Decembers' tsunami. Not remotely close. Larry

Let's put this in perspective. Damage estimates for Katrina are
currently around $25 billion. It's costing us over $7 billion a month
in Iraq, with no end in sight. Sure would help if that money could be
used here at home where it's needed. And wouldn't it be nice to have
all those National Guardsmen back home and helping out in the
hurricane area?

And it appears the diversion of funds to the war in Iraq could be
responsible for much of the damage:

You may well have a point. However, the $26 billion number that I have read is just the insured losses. The actual losses will be much, much higher and those without insurance are the ones least likely to be able to afford the losses. The human suffering in the weeks and months to come will be immense.
