I think it's great you've raised your son well, and I wouldn't have
expected any different. What's it got to do with the point? I didn't say
you were a bad parent who has never done anything positive in the world. I
asked you to list the contributions you have made, the actual things you
have done to support the causes you constantly berate others for failing to
support, ie the drug war, or in this case, civil liberties. If you don't
think that's relevant or worthy of response, that's your problem.
You make a big deal about how people are missing the boat on these
issues and you criticize that no one cares as much as you do. And then you
criticize people working on and caring about other things, like global
warming and the environment, as if they are now in the wrong for doing so.
So, I'm just asking, what have you done? You're in a position to rant and
rant about this stuff, even to the point of denigrating others who agree
with you, but what do you actually contribute? I happen to agree with you
on the loss of civil liberties and the stupidity of the drug war, but you
won't see me screaming about the environment and putting down other worthy
causes to get my message across. Cause that's just foolish and stupid and
illogical.
It's a sore point for me, reading bull*** from people who I should be
able to count as allies in a common cause, but who instead of ever doing
anything constructive for even their own passionate causes, just spew
negativity at everyone. I never told you what to post or not post. I asked
you what you've ever done about the *** you think needs changing so badly.
As far as I was concerned you could well have answered with any number of
things, writing letters, volunteering, working on local community
issues...but you didn't. You just ducked and weaved and feigned surprise
that anyone took you seriously.
Why? I can only imagine it's because you've done almost nothing and you
know you're just a *** talker when it comes to this stuff. Glad you've
raised a good son, it's quite a contribution to the world and often not done
well. I hope the world he and his children get to live in is a good one,
and I hope people who care passionately about that will pull together and
work to make it happen and not waste time with bull*** talk and hypocrisy.
