Ha! Go to any electronics store, and start asking about HiDef TVs, and
just listen to all the technical jargon that the salesmen will throw at
you.
But that's because they're trying to SELL you something. They don't want
you
to understand what they're saying, and, in most cases, much of what they
say
is made up BS anyway. A salesman at a high-end store once told my brother
that Pioneer is a bigger company than Sony...
Maybe he was thinking of Panasonic (i.e. Matsushita)?
In any case, the executive summary is that HD is better than SD for
reasons that the typical consumer will apparently never understand, and
similarly Mac OS X is better than Windows, and Kate Bush is better than
Madonna. And the fact that the typical person will never understand any
of these things doesn't make them false.
well, why are you off on an irrelevant tangent that no one brought up?
anyway, your bmw/yugo comparison in just more of the mac elitism, and quite
an exaggeration at that. Civic/Accord, MAYBE. either way, the mac is NOT
infallible. and, as long as we're on the subject anyway, while Final Cut may
be the best video editing software available, I can tell, since I was one,
that they did not consult enough pro editors in designing it. To many things
that always revert to their default, rather than user set defualts, too many
odd, seemingly made up terms. I'm not alone in this eaither. EVERYONE I know
who was a linear editor has a bitch of time learning this. But hey, now I'm
digressing too.
That's what I was saying! People in the broadcast bidness don't even try
to
talk to the viewer in their language, cuz they know the viewer doesn't
"get
it."
Yeah, well if I told you that SD is of a higher resolution than HD, I
bet you'd try to set me straight.
wtf that got to do with anything?!?!?!?!?! I would, as much as I could, TRY
to set you straight IN TERMS AN AVERAGE VIEWER WOULD UNDERSTAND, and not go
off on mpeg encoding and yadda yadda yadda.
They are far from obsolete, but they are obsolescent. (It also depends
on the model. Apple has been selling things called "PowerBooks" since
1991.) Apple doesn't sell computers anymore based on PowerPC CPU's
(except for their high-end desktops, which are also due to be replaced
any day now). Apple has moved completely to Intel x86 CPUs for their
entire product line. So now you can even throw out OS X on an Apple
computer and just run Windows on it if you end up not liking OS X.
but that's pointless. I can't run Final Cut with Wondows, so, at that
point,
I may as well have the less expensive PC.
And when did Final Cut ever stop working from one version of OS X to
another?
again, wtf you talking about?? There has only been FC with OS X.
My point on compatability is that you can buy an Intel Mac and run Final
Cut (and all other Mac programs). AND you can run Unix programs. AND
you can run your favorite Windows programs on it. All at the same time.
This makes Macs more compatible with apps than Windows, not less
compatible.
WHEN THE F************** DID I EVER SAY ""LESS COMPATIBLE""?!?!?!?
you have not understood one word I said, cuz you're in your ivory tower, and
don't try to grasp what the AVERAGE user (equivalent ot the TV viewer) knows
or doesn't know.
Please don't bother responding, as this whole thing is pointless.
