Last year we were on the 18th floor, so we had to haul the gear up and
down for the show. I have to store the gear in the room anyway, so going
up and down the elevators is standard procedure.
I don't know if I am running sound for LosCon 36, haven't been asked.
The other issue is that the high level floor
will put filk next to noisy events which may
have amplification, while on the basement
floor we were usually able to get rooms that
were set at some distance from noisy,
amplified events. Again, this is something
that needs to be addressed now, not at the
convention, and the concom has to be informed
in advance as to why this may cause problems.
Having the con suite on the con floor is a great idea. Having the filk
upstairs is not as a great idea. Makes us out of the way. We could have
lots of signs saying the filk is.
Nick's latest bulletin is that the concom is reconsidering its ideas
of where to put filk. It originally thought just of a concert
performer and audience and sound crew, not of filk circles with lots
of people lugging instruments and songbooks.
