After a brief e-mail discussion, I've revised the second chorus to fit the rhyme and scan of the original song, to wit:
Please Push Those Buttons
May be sung to the tune of "Don't Push That Button," ©Duane Elms.

When from a water landing survivors crawled ashore
They had no inkling just what they would find
They quarrelled with each other and sometimes polar bears
But then they found a hatch that blew their minds
There was light and shade and shelter and tons of food to eat
Provided by some shadowy cabal
And as they poked around there they found some books and films
And what they said just made no sense at all
CHORUS
Please push those buttons
That's the way, please push those buttons
Namaste
You don't know what will happen if you don't just obey
We're not quite sure ourselves but we feel better off that way
Just push those buttons
One by one, just push those buttons
It's no fun
The time between each entry, in minutes: 108
Delay no more or it will be too late
They took turns at the keyboard for hours at a time
It seemed a rather minor price to pay
The mystery continued around their new routine
Until John Locke got ornery one day
He'd found a secret tape that nobody else had seen
That seemed to hint the whole thing was a test
And Eko tried to stop him, but Locke had locked the doors
To keep us out despite our joint unrest
CHORUS
As minutes ticked away then, we felt it in the air
The sense that Locke was definitely wrong
But he ignored our protests, and lobbed the odd grenade
And Eko found the bulkheads were too strong
Locke said the Nigerian had only preached a scam
That Dharma'd simply trained him like a mouse
They would have kept on fighting, but everything went white
We felt the island's failure to degauss
boom.
CHORUS 2
You broke the buttons
Now they're gone
You broke the buttons
Dammit, John
We sure found out what happened when you would not obey
The hatch has now imploded, and there'll be Hell to pay
Destroying buttons
That was rude
We miss the buttons
And the food
You wagered all our futures and spectacularly failed
And don't say sorry now; that ship has sailed.
So we're still on the island, still trying to survive
The Others fight us any way they can
It's gotten so confusing; at least we're still alive
And sometimes we can still work on our tans
So if you're in a plane crash, and find yourself marooned
And stumble on a bunker in the sand
Though anything could happen, we really must suggest
You factor this advice into your plan
CHORUS
Best,
Perry
