(literally "nest lair") but that word isn't in my Japanese->English
dictionary
or in Nelson's kanji dictionary, and ana (hole, pit, cave, lair, den,
burrow) might do just as well.

ana (/ah-nah)

Tora no- ... something. I forgot to ask the pronunciation when I asked
for a sanity-check on my original, more mundane, guess of "neko no ie".

ie (/ee-eh/) is "house"
sumai (/soo-my/) is "house, dwelling, home"
neko is "cat"; tora is "tiger"

If you could send me a jpg or gif or the ideographs or kana that
say "tiger's lair" before Babelfish got at them, I'd be able to
tell you how they were pronounced.
