Blonde on Blonde released

On this day, May 16, 1966 Dylan's Blonde on Blonde was released.
The next day, May 17, 1966 Dylan was called Judas by an audience member in
Manchester, England.

Also on May 16, 1966 the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds was released.

At this time, I was 15 and had no idea who Bob Dylan was. I was a Beach Boys
fan and had all their albums.
I loved Sloop John B

That August of 1966, while a CIT at a summer camp, I overheard two
counselors (older college students) discussing Bob Dylan.
I asked who he was and was told he was a folksong writer and singer.

That Sept of 1966, I turned 16 and with some of my birthday money bought my
first 2 Dylan albums:
Highway 61 because of that stare and Freewheelin because I knew PP&Ms
version of Blowin In the Wind.

At the store I went to buy the records, the Dylan area did not have a
special label. All his albums where in the "Folk D"
section.

Since I had no conceptions of Dylan, never saw any of his albums, I looked
quite awhile for BOB DILLON albums.
I finally figued out that BOB DIE-LAN (DYLAN) was who I was looking for. A
couple years later when I was first
introduced to Dylan Thomas it seemed very obvious to me that Dylan purloined
his stage name from the Irish bard.

It wasn't until my 17th birthday (Sept 1967) that I had all of Dylan's
albums; the latest being Greatest Hits.
I had no idea about the 1966 world tour that I missed, the booing and Judas
calling, his marraige to Sara and new son Jesse,
the mc accident and the retreat to Woodstock and it would be 8 years before
another tour.

I was at first disappointed with JWH because I wanted more H61R & BoB but
the world's first unplugged album became a favorite on
my turntable after a few plays.
