As always, and as bob once said (to Studs Terkel if noone else), it is
and it isn't.

Maybe Bob Dylan said that, partly anyway. And if not him, then some
other interesting Alias.

Of course, anyone who's ever been concerned about turning into a
pillar of salt has heeded the warning, possibly bob included. At the
same time, anyone who's ever looked at their TV Glide and seen "Don't
Look Back" being aired, and tuned in, only to be presented with,
instead of the dylan cinema verite thingie, a biopic of Satchel Paige,
has also heeded the same advice: "Don't look back. Something might be
gaining on you."

Of course Satchel also said: "Don't pray when it rains if you don't
pray when the sun shines."

So many problems arise because people keep looking backwards, instead
of starting to shift their just views in forward-now.

You see this is an issue i'm wrasslin' with. There's a name for it,
but i'm not ready to plant the kernel seed in hopes that a sprout
forces its way thru the green fuse.

Because we can look back to rediscover things that were good in the
past, and with which we've lost touch. And that disconnect is a
fundamental reason why we've strayed from the path.

Rediscovering those elements, and using them (knowing now what we knew
then) to make progress in a forward direction legitimises rear view
mirrors.

In my mind. On some days.

Lay some of your dreams  on the table once you recognize them. I dare
you all!

If'n ya'd like, i'll gladly put my feet under yr table. I'm cooking up
a mess of butterbeans. I'll lay 'em by yr dreams.

Thanks for having me, and thanks for yr hospitality.

& thanks as ever for the thought process that leads us here.

a coupla more Satchelisms:
"Work like you don't need the money. Love like you've never been hurt.
Dance like nobody's watching."

"You win a few, you lose a few. Some get rained out. But you got to
dress for all of them."

& one Yogism:
"Prediction is very hard, especially when it's about the future"

& of course there's Holy Cow! : The Selected Verse of Phil Rizzuto
(1993) where somebody took the Scooter's broadcast words and typeset
them to look like poetry. Here's one of the more poignant:

The Man in the Moon

The Yankees have had a traumatic four days.
Actually five days.
That terrible crash with Thurman Munson.
To go through all that agony,
And then today,
You and I along with the rest of the team
Flew to Canton for the services,
And the family....
...Very upset.

You know, it might,
It might sound corny.
But we have the most beautiful full moon tonight.
And the crowd,
Enjoying whatever is going on right now.
They say it might sound corny,
But to me it's some kind of a,
Like an omen.

Both the moon and Thurman Munson,
Both ascending up into heaven.
I just can't get it out of my mind.
I just saw that full moon,
And it just reminded me of Thurman.
And that's it.
