Then Martin said (ages ago - this is what happens when I miss a
night!) I understand where the song is going with those lines, I just
don't like them.
Yeah, I can appreciate that - I guess the feeling behind my post was
relating to perhaps a stronger feeling than "like" or "dislike" (too
many feelings - that's what Bob makes you feel....)
I think the line "and
the whole world is on your case" is much weaker
That's another crummy one!
re your other statement where you say "Yeah, you tell her Bob",
then my back gets up coz now we're taking sides - me the girl's and
you the guy's
Well, you're the girl & I'm the guy, so why not just stick to our
sides?
I certainly have no intention of changing sides at this time - but
then again I've always fancied myself in Bob Dylan boxer shorts
(surely Jeff Rosen has thought of those)!
You got me going there Martin, but I think I've defended my patch of
ground OK without gender politics taking over.....
I'm just kidding, Annie. 'Gender politics' isn't the arena I'd like
to consider those songs in. I think the humour in 'you just kinda
wasted my precious time' overrides any gender issues - it could come
from a male or female, but in this case Bob's singing it. If PJ
Harvey or Tori Amos sang it, it might sound different
Yep, agree..... I was missing the humour a bit - but pretty snide
humour at that . But when you say Bob was singing it, that's my point
exactly - he's a guy and I'm a gal and I wouldn't like to hear it -
humourous or otherwise.
don't forget to put both those
songs on your new iPod
Don't worry - my new ipod's capacity is so huge (space reserved here
for innuendo) that I now have every official Bob album on there (smug
grin)
I type this through gritted teeth - having a new Apple iMac which is
beautiful but an MP3 player that doesn't communicate too well with
iTunes..... perhaps with a few more lessons - otherwise it's off to
the Apple store...... (you must have got an iPod with a HUGE capacity
to accommodate all your innuendo and your repertoire of one line
ripostes - but we wouldn't have it any other way Martin!)
Trust that Nashville Skyline is on high rotation - it certainly is at
my end at the moment....
