yea.

A difficult piece of advice but it does make sense. Intentions
directed toward goodness will take some of the gnarls out of a heavy
heart, and it will feel lighter. Vibrations of fear, hate, and other
contemptuous forms of cynical exchanges between humans are bearing
down heavy on those who get too invested in them. Clearing up,
throwing as many of the dark and muddy emotions overboard as is
possible at any time is a step one needs to take to transform reality…
it does take time and effort to metamorphose a worldly or individual
vortex of negativity into a positively charged one, may be the reason
why the teaching above is not widely applied, even by the greater
majority of those who claim to be followers of the teacher. It is far
easier to worship the personality of a teacher than to observe his
teachings and many are those who have chosen that way and did not heed
the teachings over the course of the centuries or have been selective
about them, ignoring those who are most profound and difficult and
require great effort and perseverance. It can be said that although
they declare themselves to be followers of the teacher, they reduce
the teacher to their image and do not attempt to follow the teachings,
instead co-opting the teacher’s name to suit their needs. I cannot
help but be puzzled : why would people feel a need to claim such a
strong affiliation then? I am not sure and it would not feel
worthwhile to me to spend much time speculating on the matter. Maybe
it just feels good to them to imagine they are part of the intimate
entourage of a super star, whatever the star name happens to be. Do
they believe they will get special treatment that way? This would be
an error. Far better for a person to own up to their own path than
proclaim themselves to be something they are not. Real teachers tend
to seek students who will be greater than themselves at the end of the
day, not students who will sit in their shadows , hoping to receive
some priviledged treament.

This is my opinion anyway but I’d rather refocus now on the text
itself, the quote passed on through the generations.

The approach to life represented in this quote is so far removed from
the contemporary fabric of main stream consciousness that it seems
quite irrelevant to many by now. Some human habits are too deeply
ingrained for a simple verbal teaching to be effective by itself. And
yet, I am not one who would ever want to give up hope that some will
attempt to heed these words, simply because I believe that if the
advice was to be practiced, it could bring healing to many. There is
value to be found in one’s attempts to integrate in one’s life
something of strong ethical and metaphysical value, this even if one
is not completely successful at it, and even if in times of strife one
may need to stand up “against” and strongly defend something. One can
stand up ‘against’ without bringing into it the element of hatred and
contempt, nor even the element of fear. The teaching appears to me to
describe a valid life game plan. Its underlying goal may be to remind
people to be constantly aware of the oneness that interpenetrates
everything, to welcome that unifying active connection inbuilt in the
universe. I got recently reminded of such truths when I found myself
listening with great interest to Uri Geller as he was being
interviewed on Aljezeera TV channel. Suffice for now to say that Uri,
a man who deeply understands this concept of unity is also able to
deal with the down to earth dualities in a most powerful and effective
way. This man comes equipped with such intense energy, focus, live
awareness and intellectual acknowledgment of the eternal and invisible
realities that he is a joy for me to behold. Without being affiliated
to any specific religion, his spiritual grasp of reality is most
impressive. Wow!!!

Not always an easy game to play this game of life, is it? It does take
time and commitment to become aware of one’s self in the overall field
of unity, and even more to come to recognize the unique role each one
of us is called to play within it. However the game feels worthwhile.
Awareness of the real self is transformative in and of itself.
Everytime the awareness occurs, even if it lasts only a couple of
minutes, one gets an opportunity to soften some of the heavy starchy
glue which holds tightly together the flags of hatred, fear, cynicism …
etc… One can do so even while having sometimes to fight the ‘external
enemies’, all those little i’s of a common we who one day went
a’walkin’ like us in the infinite house of distorted mirrors ---
remembering that even our ‘enemies’ are but myriad reflections of our
One, still Us.

Below is a passage which seems to me to have retained, albeit in a
more personal and less ideal kind of way, a certain resonance with the
ancient and intense original. If one additional little whistle and one
more song are worth listening to, then Schma, Hear the passage below,
for it may -possibly- lighten (y)our days and y(our) next leap(s). If
it proves succeessful in its desire to reinforce the quote we have
been addressing, then great! If it is not, what else is new in this
world? Nu, any one has some good news to share?

The passage goes like this :

People are my salvation and my downfall, my heavens and my hells. Some
I often love and some I resent. I feel my life deepest current
oscillate between those feeling polarities, I want to be close and I
want to run away. I am a hermit and I am a lover. I am often drawn to
human beings but then sometimes I want to recoil from them; for while
some of them work hard to feed the very soul and body of Humanity,
others act like vultures who wish to suck some of the marrow out of
its bones. Some women and men are busy displaying the shiny face of
God, while others at times get to reflect His other side. In this
period of my life, I am still selecting one manifestation of the
divine over the other, still choosing the obvious blessings over the
apparent curses and, far too often, forget that all forms spring from
the One Source. Yet I know that it is only when I will be able to see
the glory of the Creator reflected in all beings -regardless of their
appearances- that I will become the fullness of Me as I embrace and
wed all parts of my greater Being. Only then... But naming is the
beginning of the dance of embrace, so I name for us the light and I
name for us the dark, and I do affirm to You and to Me that throughout
the colorful tapestry of all our encounters runs the truth that we are
one, as one as all of life is one.
