That's an interesting question. Dylan says half-jokingly in his recent
interview, "I own the sixties." Okay...that's about right. Maybe
co-owns would be more accurate, but let's not quibble. The stickier
question is whether the sixties own him.
I'd like to read it.
And while at it, in most cases when some one is half-kidding, (we used to
call it, kidding on the square), there is more truth in their statements
than kidding, often the kidding part is a manipulation. You know the way Tom
Cruise uses his smile...
Now, I'm not accusing Bob, because one never ever knows the truth in the
other's mind, the person speaking, maybe doesn't even recognize the truth,
but Bob has seemed to contradict himself on various occasions, so we really
don't know the truth in some of the things he says.
He was a huge part of the '60's, he has to know that.
Did he own it? Does he believe it? Don't know if he was totally kidding but
he was a huge influence and a great representation of that era.
