WHERE'S BOB? (XM and AOL vs ME)

This morning I got up early... for a Sunday, anyway. I eagerly logged
on, opened AOL, signed in and clicked on the radio@aol icon. Of
course, I immediately changed the "station" to XM40-Deep Tracks to hear
Bob the Cool DJ at 8:00 am. (This was about 7:50 am.) I listened to
some not-bad "Classic Rock" for awhile and then I heard the DJ announce
that Theme Time Radio Hour (TTRH) would shortly begin. The DJ then
introduced a nice John Fogarty song. And at exactly 8:00 am I hear...
Van Morrison's Astral Weeks. A lovely song from a great album, to be
sure, but definitely NOT on Bob's playlist!
(Note: I had tried to hear Bob's first show when it re-ran on The
Village (XM15), and didn't hear it then, either, but I had assumed that
either I or the source I consulted got the time wrong.)
Then the DJ cuts in to tell us that Bob's show is not available to
"non-subscribers."
That's funny, I thought I was subscribed... to AOL.
Okay, it's not *just* the principle of the thing: my discretionary
income lately has dropped to near-zero. However, it's *mostly* the
principle of the thing. I really think being charged twice for the
same service is theft. Since AOL offers Radio@aol as part of its paid
service, and XM Radio is part of AOL, ergo, I have *already* paid XM
through AOL.
By the way, it's so *terribly* nice of XM and AOL *not* to let all us
AOL people know in advance that we would not be receiving the show, so
we would be so pleasantly surprised when we tuned in. Way to go, guys!
