QFive people including myself gave reviews of the Bob Dylan concert on the
"Bob Links" website. My review was the only one that was, well, not a
glowing one and I noticed a sort of naivete flowing through the others. Do
you find that fans overlook certain things about their favorite performers?

AHis most devoted fans accept/rationalize all that he does as just more
evidence of his rebel genius. I still think that because he's charging such
premium prices, he should remember he's engaging in commerce and needs to
acknowledge, on some level, his customers or at least create the illusion
that he genuinely wants to be there.

This exchange seems to go to the heart of what is wrong with many Dylan
followers...
Stephen maintains that anyone offering a glowing review must be
'naive'. It does not occur to him that they might actually be finding
something emotional in the music that he does not have the ability to
perceive.
Timothy suggests that Dylan is a product. He talks in terms of commerce
and advises Dylan to look as if he is enjoying himself as if he were
some sort of cheesy salesman having to spout the company line and say
"Have a nice day" while he works.
These views are both grossly offensive to both Dylan and anyone who
does not consider him a performing monkey here to do their bidding in a
financially motivated transaction in the wider entertainment industry.
Sickening.
