If you're burning mp3s, there will always be a tiny gap of a few
milliseconds between tracks, due to dropped frames in the encoding
process. The only solution I know is to convert the mp3s to wavs and
edit out the gaps in a sound editor, then burn the wavs to CD. Pain in
the arse...

There is a free wav and mp3 trimmer at this site, http://www.mptrim.com/.
Both handle batch files. The free version of the mp3 trimmer has some size
limitations; I don't use it so I'm not sure what they are. I've used the
wavtrim program for quite a while; works great for deleting silence between
tracks.
