consistent in his songs.
Seems to me he has always valued justice in his songs. The source of
justice may have changed over the years - from the courts to the
streets to divine retribution to the hand of fate - but it seems he has
always championed the underdog.
I also think he believes in redemption, again whether it comes from the
classic values he was raised with or comes from some metaphysical
source.
You may want to consult Christopher Ricks' book, Dylan's Visions of
Sin. It is quite comprehensive and, apparently, given Jeff Rosen's
permissions, authorized. FWIW
