Oh dear, FunkMe. Your response to my message is a real little bundle
of contradictions isn't it?

Firstly you misunderstand my use of the term 'artistic choice' . You
seem to think I'm suggesting that Dylan was precious about his choice.
I did not imply this at all. What I actually said was that people -
people like you, it seems - who are more comfortable with the thought
that Dylan might have been forced to play keyboard through necessity
rather than for his own musical reasons. I don't know why this should
be but you clearly are or you wouldn't bridle when I suggest that it
could be otherwise. In assuming Dylan's choices would only ever be
forced you are choosing to overlook a good deal of evidence.

You then say that Dylan would not 'invest a life into an instrument'
only to abandon it. Why not? He went electric didn't he? He has
spent a lifetime making huge changes to his art. I would have thought
switching main instruments is exactly the sort of challenge Dylan would
set himself.

You then say that he was only ever an adequate guitar player so it's no
big deal anyway. You also seem happy to deride his piano playing. One
begins to wonder what exactly it is about Dylan that you do understand
or admire.
