The question still remains. Is the idea of 'equality' an illusion
because a is different from b and they share very little in common? In
other words, can different things be equally valued but still be
different? Are all things deemed to be 'equal' necessarily the same?
Do 'equal' things have all things in 'common' or can they have
differences that balance each other out, or differences that produce
different results but are of equal value? Do they need to have
anything in common to have any kind of equality? Is equality based on
sameness and inequality based on lack of commonality? If a is
different from b, is one inferior to the other because they are not the
same?
It's the use of things in 'common' to dismiss the idea of 'equality'
that makes no sense to me.
